Allen Smith, GCISD's Director of Emergency Management and School Security, described the district's reunification process and what parents should expect if students cannot return to campus.
"We call this the reunification process," Smith said. "Every campus and district facility has a designated reunification location, and this location would be communicated to parents if the reunification is necessary." He told parents that they should keep their contact information current in the district system (the transcript references the system as "Skoward") and that "If a reunification event is necessary, you will need a form of ID to pick up your student."
Smith said the district asks for patience during reunification events and that the procedures are practiced regularly to improve efficiency and safety.
