Council approves contracts, appointments, budget changes and proclaims Arbor Day
Summary
Council approved a security/fire contract with Camtek Inc., appointed Lisa Specht to the planning commission, adopted budget and salary ordinance amendments, and passed an Arbor Day resolution; the home electrification grant was tabled. All motions recorded were passed by 4–0 votes.
At its April 21 meeting the Airway Heights City Council approved a set of administrative actions and proclamations alongside the missing-middle package. Clerk-Treasurer Stanley Schubert and staff presented a proposed contract change to consolidate security and fire-alarm services; council approved moving forward with Camtek Inc. to consolidate those services and reduce costs.
Council also approved consideration for appointment of Lisa Specht to the planning commission (motion passed 4–0), completed second readings and approved ordinance C-1093 amending the city's 2025 budget and C-1094 adjusting position salaries to add a payroll accountant and a code compliance officer, and adopted Resolution 2025-011 declaring April 25, 2025, Arbor Day in Airway Heights. Earlier in the meeting the council tabled the home electrification and appliance rebates grant because the presenter was not available.
Public comment included developer support for the housing package from Jim Frank and neighborhood concerns from John Robbins about driveway access, traffic and promised pedestrian improvements. The council adjourned at 7:39 p.m.
