GCISD outlines five SRPs and adds new —CLEAR' in community safety briefing

Grapevine-Colleyville ISD officials and local emergency chiefs presented the district's standard response protocols and a new classroom-level procedure during a community safety briefing.
"The 5 SRPs that we use in cooperation with the I Love You Guys Foundation are Secure, Lock Down, Evacuate, Shelter, and Hold," said Allen Smith, Director of Emergency Management and School Security for GCISD. He added that the district developed an additional protocol called CLEAR (Clear the Classroom) to address emergencies that begin inside a classroom.
Smith said the district invites community partners to explain each protocol and emphasized regular practice: "Each of our SRPs is practiced regularly on campus and in district facilities." The briefing outlined who leads each response, how parents will be notified, and steps for reunification if students cannot return to campus.
District officials said the protocols are intended to be clear to staff and students and to coordinate effectively with responding police and fire agencies. The district also asked parents to keep contact information up to date so reunification can proceed efficiently.
