Applicant Jesse Camacho says transparency and partnership needed to manage growth

Jesse Camacho, an applicant for a council vacancy, told the council he has lived in Airway Heights since 1998 and wants to help manage growth so the city can keep jobs and services locally. "I would be transparent to them so that they don't start assuming something," Camacho said when describing his approach to public engagement.
Camacho identified tremendous growth and the need to align city resources with development as the main challenge, saying he would work with partners and stakeholders to secure needed funding and infrastructure. He told the council he would be visible and accessible, meet with constituents and, when necessary, seek data before acting. The council thanked him; deliberations on appointments are scheduled for May 5.
Camacho recounted military and professional examples of stakeholder outreach and said he would collaborate with residents and partners to pursue economic and mobility goals. He expressed support for the city's pedestrian and bicycle plans and said a million-dollar hypothetical grant should be discussed among council members to prioritize uses.
