Council discusses Gorge Days volunteers, code enforcement, community garden and city social media

Councilmember Mary Helms asked whether the city would establish a Gorge Days committee; Mayor JB Tennison and CAO Taylor Chambers said volunteers would be necessary and that Deputy Clerk Amy Weaver had done much of the work previously. Fire Chief Kalista Hamilton said she knew people who might be willing to help.
The council also addressed local code enforcement: Mayor Tennison said he had received complaints about parking and loose dogs, and Councilmember Margie Lee recalled a prior outdoor kennel at the sewer plant but said current law likely prevents a replacement. On the community garden, Councilmember Helms asked when water would be turned on; CAO Chambers said the water was scheduled to be turned on at the end of the month but could be turned on sooner if freezing temperatures ended. Councilmember Emily Sabo clarified "she had no intention of resigning from Council." The mayor and CAO also discussed that the city currently does not operate a Facebook page and that a page could be useful for public information.
