Council hears reports: hydrant replaced, solar sign planned, transfer-station signage reviewed

At its Feb. 9 meeting the council heard departmental reports: a leaking fire hydrant at 1100 6th Avenue was replaced, a solar sign will be placed on Poplar Street, signage for the Transfer Station is under review, and summer employment ads for the Auditorium/Park will run next month.
During the Council Reports portion of the Feb. 9 meeting, the council received a series of brief departmental updates.
Under Water and Sewer, Nathan Riggins reported that a leaking fire hydrant near 1100 6th Avenue has been replaced. Under Streets, Riggins and a colleague named Woody said they will install a solar sign on Poplar Street and discussed chip sealing Main Street during the coming construction season. The Solid Waste report said the council will continue evaluating signage for the Transfer Station. The Liquor report noted the City Bar held a Super Bowl party. For Auditorium/Park, the council was told summer employment advertisements will run in next month’s newspaper.
