Council approves surplus-and-trade of a fire engine for a public-works work truck

Fire Chief Mitch Metzger told council the department recently placed a new fire engine into service and that the city has an extra apparatus it proposes to declare surplus. Metzger said staff identified an opportunity to trade the surplus engine to Adams County District Fire District 7 in exchange for a work truck useful to the public-works fleet.
City legal counsel explained the municipal code requires council approval for noncash consideration trades; the council moved and approved the resolution authorizing the exchange during the consent agenda vote.
Council approved the trade unanimously, enabling staff to complete the exchange and update fleet inventories.
