City Planner Richard Hall told the council that the Planning Commission's public hearing on the draft Critical Areas Ordinance set for March 3, 2026, was canceled because the notice did not appear properly in the Skamania Pioneer. The commission scheduled a special meeting for March 12, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. to hold the hearing, and Hall said a draft copy of the ordinance is available on the city's website for public review.
Hall said Paul Dennis from Jackson Civil Engineering plans to attend the March 12 meeting to respond to questions and that the Planning Commission will follow its review steps if the ordinance proceeds. The planner asked interested residents to review the draft online ahead of the rescheduled hearing.
No formal action on the ordinance occurred at the Feb. 24 council meeting; the update was delivered as a staff report to the council.
