City planning staff presented proposed language to the Land Management Code that would create a minor condominium plat amendment track handled administratively by staff rather than by the Planning Commission.
Staff said the change would keep roughly 60% of condominium plat amendments with the commission and make about 40% eligible for administrative review, covering cases such as creating habitable space in attics or crawlspaces, enclosing compliant decks of 100 square feet or less, and combining up to two adjacent residential units into one ownership. "The proposed language...is to create a minor condominium plat amendment process that staff could approve and review and take final action on," staff told the commission.
Commissioners generally supported the idea as a way to streamline routine matters but asked staff to add a "default" or referral mechanism so the planning director could route unclear or out-of-scope applications back to the commission. Chair Van Dyne asked staff to return with revised findings and text for a future public hearing.
