County board approves move to .gov email; first‑year grant sought to offset costs

IT Coordinator Caryn Hojer said the one-time transition would cost approximately $4,000 and the ongoing annual cost would be about $14,460; she said she would apply for a Secure South Dakota grant to offset the initial year expense.
Commissioner Steve Spilde moved that Hojer proceed with the .gov transition. Commissioner Corey Lundquist seconded the motion and the board voted unanimously to approve it. Hojer will pursue grant funding to reduce the county's first-year outlay; recurring costs will be subject to future budgeting and contract decisions.
The board recorded the transition approval as a strategic IT move to increase cybersecurity and county domain control.
