Kingsbury County adopts Ordinance 76 tightening burn-ban procedures

Kingsbury County commissioners adopted Ordinance No. 76 on a unanimous roll-call vote at the May 5 meeting. The ordinance amends Ordinance No. 72 to clarify procedures for declaring and lifting a fire-danger emergency and prohibits open burning during a burn ban. Under the new language, removal of a burn ban must be jointly approved by the County Office of Emergency Management and the Board Chair after gathering input from local fire chiefs; the ordinance takes effect 20 days after publication.
The adoption was formalized with a roll-call vote: Lee, Spilde, Walls, Lundquist and Nelson each voted aye. The ordinance text also states that all conflicting ordinances or parts thereof are repealed. No implementation timeline beyond the 20-day effective period was provided in the minutes, and the Board did not attach special conditions beyond the consultation requirement with local fire chiefs.
