County hears potential funding paths for 215th Street after 425th Ave work begins

Highway Superintendent Dave Sorenson told the Board that work has begun on 425th Avenue and briefed commissioners on project progress. Colliers Securities representative Toby Morris joined by Zoom to discuss funding options for additional road projects.
Morris told the Board the county has three income sources that could be used to pay the current bond and possibly fund construction on 215th Street: TIF revenue, Riverview donations and RPP money. He said the lower-than-expected cost for the 425th Avenue project within the TIF district may leave funds available but emphasized, "I would need numbers from the engineer before confirming the project can be done." No motion was made; staff indicated they will obtain engineering estimates before returning to the Board.
Commissioners heard that the 425th Ave work is underway, but no procurement or bonding actions for 215th Street were approved at the meeting. The Board instructed staff to gather engineer estimates to determine feasibility and funding adequacy.
