Council reviews draft ADU ordinance after brief public hearing

The Nooksack City Council opened a public hearing on proposed regulations for accessory dwelling units (ADUs) at 7:21 p.m. Dec. 1 and closed it two minutes later after receiving no public comment. Mayor Kevin Hester recessed the regular meeting to take the hearing and reopened it at 7:23 p.m.
City Planner Rollin Harper reviewed Draft Ordinance #763, a proposal to adopt a new Chapter 19.68 to the Nooksack Municipal Code establishing ADU regulations, and told council that the “Final version of the ordinance will be available for the next council meeting.” The council did not take a final vote on the ordinance at this session; staff will return with the finalized language for formal consideration.
