Staff presented amendments to the Land Management Code intended to clarify fence material and design standards for Park City’s historic residential districts. The changes would allow wood, metal or combined picket/woven‑wire fences with minimum picket spacing rules and prohibit vinyl/plastic materials and certain solid or ornate fence types visible from the right‑of‑way.
Planner Zollinger said the Historic Preservation Board unanimously recommended the revisions after peer community research and outreach. "Picket fences shall have a minimum picket spacing equal to or greater than 0.5 the width of an individual picket," an example slide showed; staff explained other illustrative fences that would be permitted. Commissioners asked clarifying questions about the picket spacing calculation and asked staff to return with any requested clarifications before council review.
Commissioner Shand moved to forward a positive recommendation to the city council, Commissioner Frontero seconded, and the motion passed.
