Township road building damaged in windstorm; insurer paid $56,223.07 and a further $32,000 is expected

Road Superintendent and Township Administrator Bob Oliva reported building damage from a severe windstorm last month. An insurance payment of $56,223.07 has been issued; Mr. Oliva said an additional check for approximately $32,000 will be issued when reconstruction begins and that the township plans to accept bids for rebuilding.
Mr. Oliva also said he has scheduled a Jan. 12, 2022 meeting with Curt Neihaus, Director of Shawnee County Department of Public Works, to discuss future communication and cooperation between the County Public Works Department and the Township Road Department. The Road Department reported it is well-stocked with salt for winter road treatment, and a change in local asphalt providers (Bettis Asphalt acquiring Hamm Asphalt) was discussed as a potential operational change.
