Chief Doug Schmitt presented the Fire Department's written report during the Nov. 2 meeting, telling the board that the department's number of service calls has increased compared with previous years. He said wildland pants purchased with a 50/50 forestry grant have arrived and the department will submit bills to the Forestry Department for reimbursement.
The Firefighter Association's fundraising chili feed on Oct. 23 netted approximately $1,500, and a Halloween "Trunk or Treat" event drew an estimated 600 vehicles. Schmitt also reported ongoing work on the County EMS crisis care plan, which he said has improved communication with local hospitals.
