Township Administrator Audree Guzman summarized multiple administration and capital-project items at the March 5 meeting.
Guzman said funding for the road maintenance building has been finalized and groundbreaking is estimated for spring; staff are preparing Drawdown #1. She said work on a new maintenance building sewer lagoon is underway—George Ghigliotty has obtained his license and construction passed an initial compaction test while soil samples were submitted for analysis. On the new fire station, Guzman said the township is "still dealing with the creek issue, funding, and the engineering/design process." She also reported State Forestry and State Fire Marshall grants are ready for final drawdown and closeout.
Guzman said she has regularly attended Shawnee County Commissioners meetings and met with county officials and state legislators, including Representative Kyle McNorton and Senator Kristen O’Shea. She reported updates to the township's fixed asset and insurance listings, an upcoming phone-system update with Giant Communications, and work to streamline accounts payable and address cybersecurity vulnerabilities. A financial summary presented showed year-to-date expenditures at 16.76% of budgeted amounts.
