At the March 5 meeting, Acting Fire Chief Chad Lady presented equipment needs and incident data for the department. "As of February 27, the department had responded to 155 incidents," Lady reported. He provided vendor quotes for tires on engine B‑74 and for a replacement mower for the station.
Member Mathes moved to purchase new tires from Performance Tire at a cost of $1,042.00; Member Glasgow seconded and the motion carried 2-0. Later, after reviewing mower quotes, the board approved spending up to $9,000 for a mower for the Fire Department, again by a 2-0 vote.
Lady also described a recent large grass fire that caused B‑71 to become stuck during recovery; Hays Fire and Rescue will repair the truck at no cost to the township, the chief said. The station hosted SCAFFA fire school classes in February, and the department received and installed new computers, monitors and a copier.
