Monroe Township OEM urges households to keep a 72-hour kit and family plan

Heather Howell, Monroe Township’s alert, warning and communications coordinator, told viewers that household preparedness begins with a family plan and an emergency kit to be self-sufficient for about 72 hours. "I think first and foremost, having a plan with your family... along with having an emergency kit... to make yourself self sufficient for approximately 72 hours," Howell said, recommending water for each family member, medications and pet supplies.
Howell also recommended battery backups or charging stations so households can shelter in place when necessary. Mayor Delina echoed the guidance and reassured viewers that trained professionals are available via 911 in true emergencies. Officials encouraged residents to use OEM channels for updates and to practice household plans before a storm hits.
