Mission City Council voted May 21 to approve a citywide landscape maintenance contract with Embassy Landscape Group in an amount not to exceed $43,454 annually. Staff said bids were solicited and only one bid was received; the recommended amount is under the $50,000 budgeted for the program.
Staff described the contract scope as citywide bed maintenance, tree trimming along Johnson Drive, transit center care, mulching at parks, and maintaining native plantings in the Johnson Drive corridor. The contract will be issued in one‑year increments with an option to renew annually for up to four additional years depending on performance and budget availability. Council asked staff to remind the contractor about avoiding blocking sidewalks and trails during work.
Staff said some replanting and warranty work would be addressed in coming weeks and that additional plantings were scheduled to improve frontage areas. The council approved the motion to award the contract on a roll call vote.
