Counsel to send letter on road-ownership dispute; engineer flags damaged flow-way plug and conservation-area work

Lenore Brakefield reported the Village of Estero's position that it does not need to maintain the road west of U.S. 41 to the Clubhouse, while District Counsel Tony Pires said he believes the County is responsible; Mr. Pires will send a letter to the Village of Estero and the County’s counsel stating that the Village owns the road. Shane Willis advised that Johnson Engineering documents confirming the record had been emailed to Mr. Pires on Nov. 20, 2024.
Charlie Krebs said he believes a plug separating two flow-way basins was damaged during clearing; the water is flowing from CB-199 behind 20855 Glen Eagles Links Drive and he will forward information to Mrs. Adams for MRI to review and re-establish the plug. The board discussed vegetation near residences and Mrs. Adams said she does not recommend prescribed burns in a residential community; the CDD could clear a 30-foot buffer behind homes every three years subject to South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) approval. Pelican Sound will trim mangroves at 20918 Island Sound Circle and near Conservation B-2186.
