Park Rapids council approves library racks, planters; asks for more detail on irrigation

On April 22, 2025, the Park Rapids City Council approved several library beautification items proposed by the Library Board and presented by City Administrator Angel Weasner. Councilmembers approved installation of a bike rack, a bike maintenance station, and new planters and trees; the Friends of the Library confirmed they will pay for those improvements.
Weasner told council the Library Board is also proposing irrigation of the grassy areas, but council members raised concerns about the monthly utility bill and ongoing maintenance for an irrigation system and for the bike maintenance station. The council voted to approve the physical amenities listed above and requested additional information about the irrigation proposal, including maintenance arrangements and anticipated utility costs, before taking further action on that element.
