Council proclaims July Parks and Recreation Month; council shares local updates

Council members used the council-comments portion of the agenda to highlight community events and operational updates: the Mission Family Picnic drew a larger crowd than last year and organizers served around 600 hot dogs, the community center will close for maintenance in late August, a new tree planting was held at Anderson Park, and the city will run another tree giveaway at upcoming Mission Market dates. Council members also noted three new businesses listed in this month’s Mission Monthly and discussed a recycling-contamination issue at the picnic that staff will examine.
Staff noted that interim June financial reports reflect updates to 2025 estimated revenue and expense numbers following recent budget adjustments, and that staff will continue budget work leading to the September adoption timeline.
