Counsel says opinion on Corkscrew Road ownership unchanged; CDD joins Pelican Sound Safeguard Panel objectives

District counsel Tony Pires told the board that after retrieving documents his legal opinion about ownership of Corkscrew Road west of U.S. 41 has not changed. The Village of Estero has engaged Johnson Engineering to inspect streets and walkways to identify repair needs; PSGRC President Neil Collins told board members that Town Hall discussions have focused on the intersection of U.S. 41 and the east side of Corkscrew Road, and that the study will include the west side as well.
Separately, Mr. Schultz said the CDD will participate in Pelican Sound's Safeguard Panel: Objective 2 (community natural disaster mitigation) will be represented by Mr. Merrill and Objective 4 (improving street safety) will be represented by Mr. Twombly. Mr. Long said he circulated a seven‑objective Action Plan to communities and will provide an update after the panel's first meeting in December.
These items were discussed as informational and the board did not take a dispositive vote on road ownership; counsel and staff will continue to coordinate with the Village and engineering consultants.
