Kimball council votes 5-0 to hire Jahn Schumacher at $24 an hour

Under the terms approved by the council, the city will provide a health-insurance benefit plan with a maximum city contribution of $1,000.00 per month, with up to $200.00 per month of that amount available for contribution to the employee’s Health Savings Account (HSA). The approved package also includes dental and vision coverage, a 6% employer contribution to the South Dakota Retirement System, a $300 annual uniform allowance, and pay incentives of $0.50 per hour for completion of water certification and $0.50 per hour for completion of wastewater certification.
The council recorded the employee’s start date as Jan. 15, 2025. No further discussion of the hire or the position title appears in the minutes. The motion and vote were recorded in the meeting minutes and the council adjourned at 7:20 p.m.
