The board ratified an agreement with Langan California Inc. to provide environmental consulting services for Palm Elementary, including soil sampling, laboratory analysis, technical reporting, and environmental review, for up to $37,000.
Trustee Stephanie Serrano said she had pulled the item to highlight the district's cautious approach and to push for community access to results; Dr. Lin said samples have been collected and are being analyzed, and staff expects a report within roughly two weeks. The agenda analysis reported sample retention of 14'40 days (depending on the element), and staff said custody and storage details would be provided.
Trustees stressed the importance of transparency and independent scientific review; one trustee said an independent Cal Poly Pomona expert (Duncan McKee) had reviewed materials and was available to consult. The board ratified the agreement unanimously.
