Apprentice seeks waiver for missing IMC class; board urges taking the course instead of a waiver
Summary
Robbie May told the board he lacks one required IMC class for P2 licensure; the board advised him to find and take the IMC offering (often available in-person or online at regional providers) rather than grant a waiver, and recommended he regularize apprenticeship registration.

Robbie (Robbie May) appeared for guidance on obtaining a P2 license and said he has completed the on-the-job training requirement but lacks one IMC (mechanical code) class required for the P2 curriculum. He told the board he has taken Penn Foster coursework and other classroom training but asked whether the board could waive the single IMC class requirement so he could move forward with the license process.
Board members repeatedly advised him to locate and take the IMC class rather than seek a waiver, noting courses are periodically offered at regional training centers (IMTI, CECs, Waterbury providers) and may be available online or in summer sessions. One board member told him, "hunt that class down, take it, and then you won't have to take it for the s license," and staff reiterated that the IMC completion would also help Robbie's ongoing S4 apprenticeship requirements.
