Budget committee backs partial technology funding; nonresident card fee and Sunday hours to county council
Summary
The board learned the budget committee recommended partial equipment funding ($13,000) and appears inclined to staff a technology role (likely under IT); Dan said the county committee declined support for Sunday hours and the nonresident unlimited card increase (from $25 to $60) will be taken to the county council in November.

In a detailed budget update, Director Dan (S3) told the board that the county budget committee recommended funding $13,000 toward equipment requests (Dan had sought $17,500) and that a requested systems/technology librarian role cleared the committee's first hurdle but may be classified as an IT position.
Dan said the committee declined the request to add Sunday hours for now, quoting committee feedback: "they said no support for Sunday hours." He also said he submitted a report proposing an increase to the nonresident unlimited card from $25 to $60; he plans to attend the county council's November work session to present the fee schedule change and said county council hearings are expected in December.
The board discussed timing and next steps; Dan said the county manager will review recommendations before the council's public budget hearings. Several board members praised staff for being mindful of budget constraints while asking for targeted increases to collections, travel, and equipment.
