Selectboard will accept Final Sidewalk Scoping Study as scoping only; next steps could take 4–6 years

Maryann Caron told the Selectboard on Jan. 28 that when the Final Sidewalk Scoping Study is presented, the board should accept only the scoping study and defer any decision about moving forward with recommended construction.
Caron said accepting the study would allow the town to later pursue two potential state-level grants to fund recommended sidewalk work, but cautioned that a start-to-finish process could take four to six years. The Selectboard did not make a funding commitment or authorize construction at the Jan. 28 meeting.
The board will consider grant options and later weigh whether to proceed with work identified in the scoping study.
