Selectboard to propose Spring Road Slide #1 as replacement for BRIC grant funding from Rte. 110

Town staff told the Selectboard on Jan. 28 that the BRIC grant applicant is seeking to change the road included in a proposed project from Route 110 to a town-owned road and asked the Selectboard to nominate a replacement. Maryann Caron said she will respond to Amy Frost, chair of the Planning Commission, recommending that the town pull grant funding from VT Route 110 and instead propose Spring Road Slide #1 as the BRIC-funded project.
Caron said two state-level grants could be pursued to pay for recommended sidewalk or road work if the Selectboard later chooses to proceed; she also warned that a full start-to-finish effort on a scoping study and project could take four to six years.
The Selectboard did not authorize work or commit funds on Jan. 28; Caron will communicate the board’s preference to the Planning Commission.
