Road foreman reports truck repairs, hydraulic leak and calls for follow-up on Strafford Road timing

Road foreman Rodney Hoyt updated the Tunbridge Selectboard on Jan. 28 about several maintenance issues affecting the town highway crew.
Hoyt said one truck is at Sabel and Sons for a wheel-bearing repair, and a separate vehicle requires further work to locate a hydraulic fluid leak; he instructed the shop to continue diagnostics until the source is found. He also said a planned test drive of a loader has been postponed and that the tractor’s status remains undetermined. Hoyt reported the crew has been borrowing a culvert thawer from the Royalton Road Crew and expects to return it soon; he added the town’s salt supply is in good shape.
Board member Maryann Caron said she had spoken with Shawn Kelly but that Kelly did not indicate when work on Strafford Road would begin in the spring, leaving the timing unresolved.
The Selectboard did not vote on any road contracts or authorizations at the Jan. 28 meeting; Hoyt asked the board to continue follow-up with the contractor or relevant staff about Strafford Road schedules and to re-inspect the leaking truck.
