Sharon holds public hearing on draft 2026 Capital Budget; TRORC urges annual updates

The Selectboard opened a public hearing on the Draft 2026 Capital Budget and Program at 6:30 PM on July 20. Bryan Kovalik of the Two-Rivers-Ottauquechee Regional Commission provided an overview and recommended the Town revisit the document annually as projects evolve and new information becomes available.
Selectboard Vice Chair Kevin Gish asked whether the budgeted costs reflect future inflation; Kovalik replied, "they are in today’s dollars and do not factor for inflation." Ted Austin asked whether the draft would serve as the Town's guiding capital plan going forward; Kovalik recommended annual updates to keep estimates current. Chair Scott Henkels referenced recommendations listed in the document for board consideration.
The board opened the hearing to public comment; "No public comment, written or oral, was provided during the hearing," and the Selectboard closed the hearing at 6:45 PM. The board tabled detailed action and scheduled continued review of the Capital Budget and Program for the August 3 meeting.
