At the meeting the Town Clerk told the Selectboard that Walden has received all 2023 FEMA funds and the majority of 2024 FEMA funds for damaged roads, though payments for Stannard Mountain Road repairs and the Orton Road bridge are still outstanding. The clerk also reported the town received a State Emergency Road Grant totaling $97,900 to cover expenses from the June 24, 2024 weather event.
The clerk said a bid for work funded by the Better Roads Grant will be issued this week. Board discussion of budget projections (separately recorded) noted that final receipt of remaining FEMA funds would improve both the general and highway budget positions for the fiscal year.
