Ammon from Summit County's communications and public engagement team presented outreach options to the commission, saying the authority should "foster community engagement and partnerships" and work to reach both potential residents and community stakeholders. Ammon recommended using social media (with optional paid boosts), a monthly housing newsletter segment, local media pitches and short bilingual notices or stamps on tax materials to raise awareness of the separate county application for the primary-residence exemption.
Ammon outlined concrete audience tools: "We have a current audience of about 3,500 subscribers. We have an open rate of 65%." He also described FlashVote polling as a rapid, localized survey tool: "We can set up a panel of 600 plus local residents that share demographic information" to provide statistically useful feedback on messaging. Staff proposed producing simple infographics and an online data dashboard to surface key facts, plus speaker series events and short video testimonials to humanize affordable-housing stories.
Commissioners asked for bilingual translations of frequently used materials; Ammon said short translated phrases (for the notice/stamp) could be done in-house while longer documents would use contracted translators. Staff will draft a newsletter schedule, propose questions for a FlashVote poll, identify partners for a speaker series, and return with concrete outreach materials at a future meeting.
