The Wallingford Development Review Board approved a conditional-use permit allowing Todd and Julia Mitchell to operate a short‑term rental from a three‑bedroom property, conditioned on receipt of the required documentation. The applicants told the board they bought the property last October, installed a permitted septic system and added safety measures including monitored alarms and a battery backup system; they said they intend to limit rentals to about six guests and will discourage pets in rental listings.
The zoning administrator, Erica Burner, explained enforcement and permit timing. She said the facts-of-findings draft will be circulated to board members within about 10 days and that the permit includes a 30‑day period after approval during which neighbor objections can pause issuance. Burner also outlined the town's violation process: permit-condition breaches generate letters that may escalate to the select board and, if unresolved, referral to the town attorney. The board voted to approve the Mitchells’ application conditioned on submission of the requested documentation before any rentals begin.
