DRB carries Wallingford salt-shed application pending insurance and plat

The Wallingford Development Review Board opened a public hearing on a town application to replace separate sand and salt sheds with a single combined building. Glenn Mayer, vice chair of the select board, told the DRB the new structure would combine the two existing functions into one building with a footprint “about the same as the sand shed and salt shed combined.”
Neighbors raised liability and adjacent-property concerns in writing. Chair Bruce Dobbins read a letter from a neighbor asking whether the town or contractors would cover repairs or cleanup if construction activities damage nearby property. Mayer said the town has contracts with licensed municipal builders and that he would confirm whether standard contractor insurance language covers adjacent-property damage. The DRB asked the applicants to supply evidence of contractor insurance and a plat showing the existing and proposed footprints before proceeding. A motion to carry the application until that information is provided was moved, seconded and carried.
