City HR-Finance Director Lisa Dudley presented amendments to the benefited and non-benefited employee handbooks that strengthen employee driver and vehicle use policies and update the Youth Protection Policy.
Dudley said the driver policy packet addresses safe parking and backing procedures, driver responsibilities, and use of city-owned and personal vehicles for city business to meet Utah Local Governments Trust insurance requirements. The revised Youth Protection Policy requires employees and volunteers aged 18 and older who work with youth to complete training and submit background checks through state and national sex offender and kidnapping registries, and it establishes standards for interactions and communications with youth. Dudley noted staff will ensure younger volunteers also receive appropriate training where applicable.
Council Member Thom DeSirant moved to approve Resolution 26-16 for benefited employees and Resolution 26-17 for non-benefited employees; both motions passed unanimously.
