Susan Clark of Middlesex, introduced as a moderator there and a professional facilitator with published work on Town Meeting and local democracy, delivered a presentation to the committee titled 'Approaches to Improving the Quantity and Quality of Participation at Town Meeting.' Clark said she would return to present a second session at the committee’s March meeting.
Following Clark’s presentation, committee members responded to prompts and brainstormed differences in outcomes for in-person deliberation (quality) versus ballot-based voting (quantity). The committee recorded brainstorming notes in a separate document and agreed to continue the discussion at future meetings.
