Rec department to merge field day with WAA; WAA proposes multi-use arena

Members voted to merge the recreation department’s Field Day with the Washington Agricultural Association’s fall festival; the joint event is scheduled for Sept. 27. The ox pull is scheduled for July 6, and the WAA announced Music in the Park dates on June 11 & 25, July 9 & 23, and August 6 & 20.
Liza Mountford, speaking for the Washington Agricultural Association, said the group would like to fund a multi-use arena that would be available for public events. Recreation members expressed general support for the idea pending additional details and cost information; no final commitment was recorded in the minutes. Liza will attend the next WAA meeting as a departmental representative.
