Charles Russell presented a new map of encumbered lands and the commission discussed several mapping proposals at the June 24 meeting. Members debated whether to limit habitat mapping to buildable/developable land to reduce costs, noting that limiting the area might save money but could reduce the precision of wildlife corridor depiction. The commission agreed to ask Arrowwood for cost-saving options and to solicit fundraising ideas from members.
Commissioners also reviewed recent planning updates: CCC suggestions to the Planning Commission (PC) to preserve forest blocks and critical wildlife habitat were recapped, the Select Board received an update, and CCRPC completed a final walkthrough of land-use regulation changes tied to the Village Plan (no change from 5 acres recorded in minutes). Members agreed to read the mapping proposals and return with questions at the next meeting.
