Commissioners discussed recent Planning Commission activity and a draft town plan circulated by consultants. The Planning Commission will meet on a new draft tomorrow; topics include nonconforming structures and Thompson’s Point. Members compared local LUR expectations with the Vermont Shoreland Protection Act, noting that state shoreland guidelines are broad and allow many exceptions, and that making local regulations stricter would require an ordinance.
Bill Stuono asked whether the CCC could prepare a letter with suggestions about land-use regulations for Thompson’s Point. Members moved and approved a motion for Claudia Mucklow and Maggie Citarella to draft a letter for the Sept. 5 Planning Commission meeting. The commission also discussed holding quarterly joint meetings with the Planning Commission and DRB.
