Councilmember urges homeowners to check insurance; utility billing review planned

Councilmember Ken Biddick told the Oct. 7 work session that bulkhead requirements can be part of a homeowner's insurance coverage and urged property owners to review their policies. "Bulkhead requirements are part of a resident's homeowners' insurance and should be looked at by property owners," he said, describing a recent personal issue that prompted his review.
Biddick also said he wants to develop a utility billing structure that "works for everyone," and that he will run mathematical models to ensure the approach does not create unintended backfalls for residents. No billing changes were adopted at the work session; the council received Biddick's report as a policy direction for staff and council consideration.
