Midvale recognizes Youth Council; community speakers announce events and a county council nomination

The City Council recognized the Youth Council’s new officers and bylaws; public commenters included Luke Maynes, who announced his nomination for Salt Lake County Council District 3, and Sue Armitage, who praised the Youth Council.
Mayor Dustin Gettel invited Youth Council members to introduce themselves and thanked community advisors for their support. Hareth (Youth Council) described adopting bylaws and creating hygiene kits as part of an outreach program to build a foundation for future council activity.
"Having the bylaws in place will ensure a foundation for future years of teamwork," Hareth said. During public comment, Luke Maynes, Vice Chair of the Midvale Community Council, announced he was nominated as the Democratic nominee for Salt Lake County Council District 3 and said, "I understand the need for the city and county to work together." Sue Armitage also addressed the council to thank them for supporting the Youth Council and spoke about her history in civics.
