Beaufort County reports 300 volunteers for cleanup as single-use plastic bag ban begins

A county representative told meeting attendees that Beaufort County held a large cleanup day that also marked the start of a countywide single-use plastic bag ban.
"Today, we're having our fall county cleanup day, which also happens to be the start of our single use county wide plastic bag ban," the representative said, reporting more than 300 volunteers drawn from county, town and city employees plus Adopt-a-Highway groups working across the county.
The presenter thanked corporate sponsors including Walmart and several local companies for donating supplies, lunches, and other support. Organizers said crews covered major county roads and that sponsors provided branded shirts and lunch sites to gather crews after shifts.
