Library circulation edges up; digital platform Hoopla accounts for large share of materials spending

"If you look at our annual monthly circulation data... this year, our average monthly circulation is 72,835 items that are being borrowed," Amanda said.
The finance presenter (identified later in the meeting as Jill) said year-to-date materials spending is about $521,000 and noted that about 72% of dollars spent so far have gone to Hoopla, the library's digital lending platform. She said remaining county materials budget and other sources could bring total potential materials spend to about $984,000 before the end of the fiscal year.
The board discussed timing of subscription and acquisition payments and the presenter said much of the remaining materials spending occurs late in the fiscal year when subscriptions and leases are billed.
