Representative Shannon Erickson tells TCL graduates their skills are what South Carolina needs

Representative Shannon Erickson, the commencement keynote and chair of the House education committee, told graduates that technical skills and adaptability are essential to the state's future. "You are exactly what South Carolina, indeed, this entire country needs," she said.

Erickson offered three concrete pieces of advice: show up, keep learning, and lift others as you climb. She highlighted programs such as HVAC and other career pathways as examples of hands-on education that meet employer needs and said curiosity is the "most valuable tool" in a graduate's toolbox.

Erickson closed by urging graduates to embrace their practical skills as civic assets and to contribute to the Lowcountry workforce and community.
