Chair Terry announced the commission’s final motion to transmit Judge Grama, Carl Folsom and Robert Wenell to the governor; staff read the round-three ballots aloud before the chair moved the final action, which was seconded and approved by voice vote with no recorded opposition. "We'll give it to them," the chair said after the ayes carried, thanking commissioners, applicants and staff for their work.
The commission conducted multiple rounds of ballots in public after an executive-session review of candidates’ background materials. Staff read ballots aloud so members of the public could follow the tally: in round 1 commissioners voted for up to five applicants, producing a tie for the fifth slot which expanded round 2's field. After successive rounds of narrowing, commissioners voted up to three candidates in round 3 and selected the three nominees that will be sent to the governor for consideration.
