The Westminster City Council voted unanimously to authorize staff to issue a letter of intent (LOI) to pursue right‑of‑way and maintenance agreements that will allow Iona’s planned electric vehicle fast‑charging site at 6260 Westminster Boulevard to advance.
Emily McCollum, representing Iona, told the council the site will be the company’s largest to date and described it as “our very 1st beacon site in the city of Westminster,” with 11 chargers serving 22 vehicles, a convenience store and event opportunities with automaker partners. City staff said the project cannot proceed to construction until agreements with Caltrans are completed because the power feed crosses Caltrans right of way.
“We want to have this big event before the end of the year,” city staff said, explaining the LOI is a temporary, standard approach to bridge timing while the formal documents are negotiated. The council moved to authorize staff to issue the LOI and the clerk recorded a 4–0 vote in favor.
The LOI does not itself convey final rights or waive any condition; staff told the council the LOI is intended to preserve the project schedule while the city, Caltrans and the property owner finalize permanent agreements. Staff said they will return with the fully executed agreements as they are negotiated.
