Mayor Debra Wilson reminded residents that school begins Aug. 15 and urged motorists to slow down near students walking to school and crossing Market Street (KS Hwy 152). She also noted the La Cygne pool closed Aug. 4 and thanked the pool staff for their summer service.
The council reviewed a quote from Gades Sales Co., Inc. (PO No. 2024-11) for two new school-zone lights priced at $7,548 but tabled the purchase to the Aug. 21 meeting to gather additional quotes after Council Member Thomas Capp noted he had seen cheaper options. Discussion of additional traffic-control signage for 4th Street was similarly tabled until Aug. 21.
No final procurement was approved for school-zone lights or 4th Street signage at the meeting.
