La Cygne council approves emergency purchases to restore water-plant controls and flow metering

Public Works Superintendent Dan Nasalroad, represented at the meeting by City Clerk Jodi Wade, reported wiring faults in the River Pumps that left the system operating on a reduced set of wires. The council approved Purchase Order No. 2024-12 to MicroComm for a Remote 900MHz I/O Smart Module control system in the amount of $13,537 and Purchase Order No. 2024-13 to Alliance Pump for a McCrometer flow meter and module for $8,062. Council Member Thomas Capp moved to approve both purchases; the motions passed 3-0.
Wade told the council the emergency call to the mayor and committee members preceded the order because the existing hard-wire setup had failed. The purchases are intended to replace faulted wiring and the flow meter “after the low service pumps and prior to the clarifiers,” according to meeting minutes. Council did not record additional discussion about alternative vendors at the meeting.
The approvals were entered as formal motions in the minutes (PO 2024-12 and PO 2024-13) and will proceed through the city’s procurement and implementation steps. The council did not specify an installation timeline at the meeting.
